Or, how it gets there? It\u2019s quite possibly from one of your neighbors in Chatham County, North Carolina. Commissioned by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chathamartscouncil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chatham Arts Council<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ebzb.org\/WPress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EbzB Productions<\/a>\u2014led by the artistic duo of Serena Ebhardt and David zum&nbsp;Brunnen\u2014is launching a county-wide oral history project called<strong>&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chathamartscouncil.org\/investing-in-artists\/farm-to-story\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Farm to Story<\/a><\/em> to celebrate the&nbsp;people who grow, produce, and deliver much of the food that sustains our community.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commissioned by the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chathamartscouncil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chatham Arts Council<\/a>&nbsp;and in association with a host of community partners,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chathamartscouncil.org\/investing-in-artists\/farm-to-story\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Farm to Story&nbsp;<\/em><\/a>will gather oral histories from farmers and growers across central and western Chatham County. These stories will culminate in public presentations in the spring of 2026, blending performance, documentary film, and curated photography by AAKIN PHOTO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aakinphoto.com \">https:\/\/www.aakinphoto.com <\/a>to honor the county\u2019s farming and agriculture community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs North Carolina natives, we are hopeful that this project will be both a tribute to our neighbors and a way to share the wisdom and resilience of farmers with the wider community,\u201d expressed Serena Ebhardt,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ebzb.org\/WPress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EbzB Productions<\/a>\u2019 Artistic Director. \u201cFarmers and farms abound in this county,\u201d added David zum Brunnen, EbzB Productions\u2019 Producing Director. \u201cOur goal is to not only bring visibility to them, but also to celebrate and elevate them as the foundation of our well-being.\u201d As Chatham County experiences rapid growth and change, the project seeks to highlight the enduring contributions of its farmers and hopes to address the disconnect between the produce aisle and the crop row.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGrowing up in Chatham County, you learn that the story of this place is written in the soil,\u201d said Sam Groce, president,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/chatham.county.cattlemen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chatham County Livestock Association;&nbsp;<\/a>Emeritus Field Faculty \u2013&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/chatham.ces.ncsu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chatham County\/NCSU Agriculture Extension;&nbsp;<\/a>owner and operator of Meadow Creek Cattle &amp; Hay Farm. \u201cFor my family, and for so many others here, agriculture isn\u2019t just a part of our history; it\u2019s a part of who we are. I remember the stories my grandparents told, not just of planting and harvesting, but of neighbors helping neighbors, of seasons of struggle and seasons of abundance that bound everyone together. Those deep-rooted traditions are what built this community. They shaped our local economy, of course, but they also influenced our culture in ways you can still feel today. When you see a field being prepared for a new season or cattle grazing in the pasture, you\u2019re witnessing a legacy that has been passed down through generations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ebzb.org\/WPress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EbzB Productions<\/a>&nbsp;is interviewing more than 50 farmers to help generate an oral history of farming, including the generational change occurring on farms, the blend of sustainable and conventional farming tactics, the unique challenges farmers face, and more. \u201cYou\u2019ve got to really believe in the artists and in your community to embark on a project like this\u2013one that is so utterly shaped by the stories community members bring to the table,\u201d explained Cheryl Chamblee, CAC Executive Director. \u201cBut hey, I come from a farming family. You can\u2019t farm unless you can imagine and work toward something that doesn\u2019t exist yet. It\u2019s the same for artists like&nbsp;EbzB, who envision and create something new in a way that connects us to each other, to our humanity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chathamartscouncil.org\/farm-to-story-celebrates-chatham-farmers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Farm to Story<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;is a deeply collaborative effort. The broad scope of organizations involved reflects&nbsp;the way this project pulls together so many facets of the community. Partners already committed to the project include&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/chatham.ces.ncsu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chatham County\u2019s NC Cooperative Agricultural Extension Service<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/chatham.county.cattlemen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chatham County Livestock Association<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chatham-beekeepers.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chatham County Beekeepers Association<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cccc.edu\/all-programs\/sustainable-agriculture\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Central Carolina Community College\u2019s (CCCC) Sustainable Agriculture Program<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/hispanicliaison.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hispanic Liaison<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/livestockconservancy.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Livestock Conservancy<\/a>, with additional partners and presentation venues being announced in the months ahead.
