The second Performing Arts Series event at Hill College com-bines
\ntwo well-known Christmas traditions into one magical evening of
\nentertainment. <\/p>\n

Thursday, December 1, at 7:30 p.m., David zum
\nBrunnen will bring the story of Dickens\u2019 creation of his famous morality
\n tale, \u201cA Christmas Carol,\u201d to life on the Hill College stage.<\/p>\n

The
\n production is suitable for all ages and will be presented to students
\nfrom local school districts on both Thursday and Friday, December 2.<\/p>\n

Professor
\n Elliot Engel, who has taught at Duke University, North Carolina State
\nand the University of North Carolina, specializes in the life and work
\nof Charles Dickens and wrote \u201cThe Night Before Christmas Carol\u201d to bring
\n to the stage the events that led to Dickens\u2019 writing of the well-known
\ntale, specifically on the night he dreamed up the story.<\/p>\n

Those
\nwho attend will be treated to the historically accurate and highly
\nhumorous staging of these events, a solo performance by a veteran of
\nstage, television and screen, David zum Brunnen. <\/p>\n

Also hailing
\nfrom North Carolina, Mr. zum Brunnen is an activist and advocate for
\ntheater, having served as executive director of the North Carolina
\nTheatre Conference and Board Chair for Arts North Carolina.<\/p>\n

His
\nperformances of \u201cThe Night Before Christmas Carol\u201d on national and
\ninternational stages have earned excellent reviews from critics.<\/p>\n

Perhaps
\n more significantly, the great-grandson of Charles Dickens claims,
\n\u201cDavid absolutely becomes my great-grandfather on stage.\u201d <\/p>\n

The production is directed by his wife and business partner, Serena Ebhardt.<\/p>\n

As
\n always, this performance is provided to the community free of charge
\nthanks to the generosity of college and community donors and will take
\nplace in the Vara Martin Daniel Performing Arts Center, just behind the
\nTexas Heritage Museum on the Hillsboro campus. <\/p>\n

No tickets are
\nrequired, and seating is first-come, first-served. A reception will
\nfollow the performance hosted by the Hillsboro Monday Review Club. <\/p>\n

Donors
\n are invited to support the Hill College Performing Arts Series by
\nbecoming a Benefactor ($100), a Sustainer ($50), a Patron ($25) or a
\nSupporter ($10). <\/p>\n

Also, for a donation of $1,000 or more, a donor can become a Lifetime Benefactor. <\/p>\n

Names of lifetime benefactors, benefactors, sustainers, patrons and supporters appear in each program.<\/p>\n
