Dramatizing<br \/>\nreal events is a way to not only learn history, but feel it, and<br \/>\ndevelop a personal connection to it,&#8221; said&nbsp;Lauren Kennedy,<br \/>\nArtistic Director for Theatre Raleigh.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;\">In<br \/>\nBlood Done Sign My Name, Mike Wiley brings to life the recollections<br \/>\nof author Timothy B.Tyson surrounding the 1970 murder of Henry<br \/>\n&#8220;Dickie&#8221; Marrow in Oxford, NC and the events that followed.<br \/>\nMarrow, who was black, was chased from a local store by three white<br \/>\nmen after reportedly making a crude remark to one of the men&#8217;s wives.<br \/>\nThey brutally beat Marrow then killed him with a bullet to the head<br \/>\nin view of multiple witnesses. Despite the eyewitness reports, an<br \/>\nall-white jury acquitted the men. The town&#8217;s black community<br \/>\nresponded to the events with an uprising that destroyed downtown<br \/>\nbusinesses and several tobacco warehouses holding at least a million<br \/>\ndollars in harvested crops. Tyson, who was 10 at the time, recounts<br \/>\nhow the conflagration of events shaped his life and offers all of us<br \/>\nan opportunity to examine our own roles in the complex and often<br \/>\nconfusing racial fabric of America.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;\">Actor<br \/>\nand playwright Mike Wiley spent the first decade of his professional<br \/>\ncareer fulfilling a focused mission to bring educational theatre to<br \/>\nyoung audiences. His acclaimed work has now expanded to performing<br \/>\narts centers and universities nationwide and to film screens and<br \/>\nfestivals around the world. Wiley holds a Masters of Fine Arts from<br \/>\nthe University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has appeared on<br \/>\nthe Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel and the National<br \/>\nGeographic Channel, profiled in Our State and American Theatre<br \/>\nmagazines, and was named an Indy Artist of the Year in 2012. He is a<br \/>\nformer Lehman Brady Visiting Professor at&nbsp;Duke University&#8217;s<br \/>\nCenter for Documentary Studies.
