\n“LIFE IS SO GOOD” PART OF THE RENAISSANCE CENTER’S “CIVIL RIGHTS AND INCLUSION” THEME<\/h1>\n

DICKSON, Tenn. \u2013<\/b> Performances for the Tennessee
\npremiere of \u201cLife is So Good,\u201d a moving and inspirational true story of
\nGeorge Dawson, will take place May 2-24 at The Renaissance Center.
\nBased on the book, \u201cLife Is So Good: One Man’s Extraordinary Journey
\nthrough the 20th Century and How he Learned to Read at Age 98,\u201d written
\nby George Dawson, a slave\u2019s grandson who learned to read at 98 years
\nold, and school teacher Richard Glaubman, the play offers an
\nunforgettable account of Dawson\u2019s view of the world with valuable
\nlessons and insights into humanity, history, hardships and happiness.
\nFrom segregation and civil rights to wars, presidents and defining
\nmoments in history, Dawson reflects on the good and bad of America
\nduring the twentieth century.
\nThe play is part of the center\u2019s theme of \u201cCivil Rights and
\nInclusion\u201d for the 2013 spring season. Related events at the center
\ninclude Alan LeQuire\u2019s Cultural Heroes art exhibit, the Nashville Public
\n Library\u2019s exhibit of Civil Rights photographs and the Mind Enriching
\nTheatre\u2019s production of \u201cFreedom Train \u2013 The Story of Harriet Tubman\u201d
\nfor grades 4-6 and \u201cThe Rainbow Fish: An Ocean Tale\u201d for grades K-3.
\nBoth are available for school field trips through May 17.
\nPerformances of\u201d Life is So Good\u201d include Friday and Saturday evening
\n shows with dinner at 6:30 p.m., show at 7:30 p.m. and Thursday and
\nFriday Matinee performances with lunch at noon and show at 1 p.m.
\nTickets are $37 for the dinner and show evening performance and $27 for
\nlunch and show matinees.
