Hi folks,

Serena & I wanted to get this update to you ASAP before any word may get to you otherwise. I’ll start by saying right up front that I was in a cycling accident last weekend, BUT I am all right, I’m in the good care of nurse Serena Ebhardt, and I am going to be fine.

The details –
Last Saturday I misjudged avoiding a crack in some pavement and had a pretty bad crash. I was fortunate to have another cyclist with me at the moment who is a doctor, and some others who helped. I was promptly taken to the hospital where surgery was done to repair what the docs call a ‘hip fracture’ (a crack in my upper femur bone close to the pelvis). The surgery went well, I returned home Monday from the hospital and now the recovery process & re-hab begins.

The important thing to note is that I’ll be on crutches for about 6+ weeks with therapy. I WILL be able to do all shows this season (War Bonds & NBCC), including the first one nearby in Cary on Sept. 7th.

I may be walking like Chester (or Festus) from Gunsmoke for a bit, and my experiences with TSA at airports will never be the same with the plate and screws that are in me now, but eventually I’ll be back to my old self again.

In the meantime, I’ll watch Olympic athletes in London on TV crashing and falling, too, and will look forward to the first EbzB shows on the road this season.

Just wanted to make sure you folks had the facts before any word of it possibly came to you in different form.

Much love and all good wishes from EbzB land.
