The Carteret Arts Forum will present 100 years of American history Thursday, Sept. 27, when Serena Ebhardt presents the cabaret “In One Era and Out the Other,” a one-woman show that shares history with song, performance and humor.
The show opens at 6 p.m. at Joslyn Hall on the Carteret Community College campus.
Tickets are $35, and the performance is included in the forum’s 2012-13 five-show subscription series.
Subscriptions for the rest of the season will be available at the show.
The show gives an overview of the 20th century in America through a patriotic lens. Ms. Ebhardt uses headlines, protests, popular culture, natural disasters and more to make history personal. The show is also interactive, and audience members should be ready to help with a chorus.
Ms. Ebhardt began her professional stage career at the age of 6 as Gretel in “The Sound of Music.” Since then, she has performed hundreds of roles in Europe, Canada, Off-Broadway, and in regional theater across the United States.
In 1998, she co-founded EbzB Productions with her husband, David zum Brunnen. Their productions of “War Bonds: The Songs and Letters of World War II” and “The Night Before Christmas Carol” may be seen on public broadcasting stations across the United States and abroad.
Ms. Ebhardt’s dramatic training includes N.C. Governor’s School and Hedgerow Theatre’s Master Acting Classes with Rose Schulman. She was a Paul Green Scholar in Dramatic Art at the University of North Carolina and has been trained by The Kennedy Center, The Lincoln Center Institute, and the National Center for Creative Aging as a Professional Teaching Artist.
