World
War II was one of the most tumultuous and emotional times in American
history. Families were torn apart by war without the modern
communication tools we have today.

David and Serena Zum Brunnen will perform their play, “War Bonds” on
May 17, at Weldon Auditorium. Once again, David and Serena will knock
your socks off with an outstanding performance. War Bonds is a musical
journey based on the songs and letters of World War II. The production
is a warm reminiscence and harrowing reminder of when the world seemed
upside down.

“Through the songs and letters of the time, War Bonds makes an
honorable tribute to all those who served our country both home and
abroad,” said Sandy Tucker, Weldon director.

David Zumbrunnen served as general manager for Hedgerow Theatre, the
Philadelphia Area Repertory Theatre and the PlayMaker Repertory
Theatre. He has also received two INDIE awards for enhancing the
cultural life in the Triangle Area of North Carolina.

Serena began working in professional theater at the age of six.
After working as a producer and actress with several theater companies
on the East Coast, she co-founded EbzB Productions, a theater production
company.

According to David, EbzB Production’s mission is “to develop
theatrical works that promote integrity, self-discovery and positive
transformation of individuals, artists, audiences and communities.”

The War Bonds’ curtain rises at 7:30 p.m. There will be a reception
to meet the Zum Brunnens after the play. Regular ticket prices range from
$20-$25 for adults and $15-$20 for seniors/military, based on seating
arrangements. Student tickets (ages 11-18) are $10 and children (10 and
under) get in free with a paying adult (one child per adult).
